Rest. Reset. Rejuvenate: The ARMY Glow-Up Recreation Goal | #AGU_Recreation

A fast-paced and hectic lifestyle exposes us to elevated levels of stress that are detrimental to physical and mental well-being. It takes a toll on productivity and decision-making and takes away our time from social connections and self-care—it takes away time from us to enjoy our ARMY life. Thus, the importance of recreation cannot be overstated.

Hobbies, leisure activities, and recreation provide us with an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate outside of our regular work or daily routines. It helps reduce stress, improve mental and physical wellness, and enhance overall quality of life. When we pursue our interests and passion projects, personal growth, self-expression, and social interaction are fostered and enhanced. Additionally, recreation promotes self-improvement on a level that allows us to shift our mindset into something more positive and productive.

The Recreation Challenge

Among the BTS members, it was Jin who has been very vocal about the idea of taking a break and its numerous benefits to a person. In one episode of In the Soop Season 2, he challenged the popular opinion of productivity by emphasizing the value of rest and recreation.

A respite from work can yield good results for the body, the mind, and the spirit. Besides, we learn best when we play and at our leisure. When starting a new hobby, consider your physical and mental health. Start small or work in increments. Observe and reflect on progress as you go. As for relaxation, the whole idea is to allow yourself to pause, breathe, and let go of energies that weigh you down so you can create space to absorb new ones that boost and empower you. The goal is to enjoy, to be enriched, and to become a #BetterARMYforBTS.

Setting Recreation Goals

What personal goals can you work on under Recreation? Here are some examples:

  • To be stronger on my resolve to make time for relaxation and recuperation

  • To go on a proper vacation every so often

  • To learn and apply more effective ways to destress and recalibrate

  • To make myself feel whole by giving time for my other passions

  • To reignite youthful energy by pursuing hobbies and talents that once piqued my interest as a child

Get That Glow-Up!

Here are some activities that you can do to support your Recreation goal:

  • Reflect on your interests and make a list of things you enjoy doing or topics you find intriguing

  • Experiment with different activities and don't be afraid to explore many new hobbies

  • Try out various activities that capture your interest even if you're unsure about them initially

  • Attend workshops, join classes, or take advantage of online tutorials to gain exposure to different activities

  • Look for inspiration from people around you. Join hobbyist communities online or participate in local hobby groups to connect with like-minded individuals and gain insights.

  • Step out of your comfort zone and don't be afraid to try something completely new

  • Stay flexible and keep things fresh to prevent burnout

Join the Movement

The Recreation goal is an avenue to relax, have fun, and be open to new experiences. Whether it's painting, playing an instrument, gardening, cooking, writing, playing a sport or any other activity, the key is to find something that rejuvenates you. One gauge of success is the sustainability of a chosen hobby.

Dedicating time and making a habit of resting are in order. As some activities require equipment, tools, instruments, or membership fees, allotting a budget over an artistic and creative pursuit, a sport or a diversion must be factored in. Exploring new activities for fun and play can lead to self-improvement or even moments of bonding with friends and family, fostering, and community building.
